Los Ocampo - Monica and Omar - are not only wonderful dancers, performers and teachers of tango, they champion Argentinian "folkloric" dancing.
"Chacarera" is a formal, couple dance with set patterns on the floor, but ample opportunity to improvise. Incredibly popular at milongas as a break from tango in Buenos Aires today, it also figures in the more "Argentine" venues in London.
It is a joyous, flirty dance, whose gender stereotypes have already been played with by modern young dancers - a process we will advance!
